About oribokit®
Dr Matthew Gardiner is an artistic inventor and researcher at the Ars Electronica Futurelab most well known for his work with origami and robotics. Oribokit was designed and created as a way to share and encourage development in the emerging fields of oribotics–origami and robotics–including soft robotics, biomimetic design and folding in nature.
"Folding is a language of nature"1Origami is the art of folding paper, mathematics and craft. Oribotics is a field of research that explores the art of making origami robots. oribokit® is a democratized art science robotic origami kit, created to encourage experimentation and expansion of oribotic research.
oribokit® allows you to make your own robotic garden at home. The assembled kit grafts onto a tree branch or other sculptural form and is designed to minimise materials usage and maximise modular recyclability for robotic origami applications.
oribokit® includes 1,2 or 3 oribotic blossoms featuring easy to fold laser-cut paper, servo motors, drive wires, and Arduino compatible microcontroller plus open-source firmware.
